[attr="class","twotext"]Personality Coming from an estranged family, Heronstar is very emotional. He relies on instinct and protects his pride fiercely. Between head and the heart, he is the heart. He can be incredibly cynical at times and reacts violently towards pain. The leader, over the years, has become more socially adept however, and his brooding nature is more of a defense than offense.
Beneath his prickly exterior, exists a cat who fights for his fellow felines. He believes in freedom and truth, and even as a young warrior his rebelling nature drove him to fight against corrupt systems and leaders. He wants others to have what he never did; a place to belong. A home. And kindness.
Though he might act very counter intuitive at times, lashing out at others despite only wanting them to feel a purpose, he truly does have the greatest love for his clan. He bickers often and makes enemies quickly, and couldn't swallow his pride to save the world, and he never forgets when others wrong him. Those who he feels for though, they will find a friend like no other. A strong and loyal tom cat who will protect them at any cost.
Strengths Loyalty Honesty Bravery
Weaknesses Pride Brooding Cynical and bitter
Goals To one day feel as if he belongs, and to see WindClan flourish.

Long furred, tall blue tom cat with gleaming yellow eyes and many white splotches.
Heronstar was born Heronkit, alongside young Buzzardkit and Egretkit. Egretkit died mere moments after being born, and Buzzardkit died later in the night. From his birth, Heronkit was sickly. He was the strongest of the litter and the only one who survived, but he was still the weakest in the nursery. When he and his siblings were born, their mother Snowface rejected them. She refused to willingly feed them, and was sickly herself.
Whispers went around that eventually drifted to young Heronkit's ears. His father was a deadbeat, an older warrior who should've been in the elder's nest. His name was Falconfeather, and he disappeared only weeks before Snowface's birthing.
Snowface was fresh out of the apprentices den, a young warrior who should've been training with her mentor instead of having kittens. Buzzardkit and Egretkit died because Snowface had not fed them, Heronkit was lucky to be alive.
These speculations weighed heavily on him. On top of this, his mother was very neglective. She didn't like feeding Heronkit, and never played or chatted with him.
As the moons dragged on and Snowface grew restless, she also became verbally, and sometimes physically, abusive.
Heronkit could hardly wait to get out of the nursery, but he was scared of the outside world. His hard upbringing made him very cynical and brooding, and he starred at others with hard, cold eyes. He was angry over the cards he had been dealt, and things would not be getting much easier for him.
As an apprentice, Heronpaw was shy, quiet, and angry. He didn't talk much, if at all, but when he did talk it was usually only to his mentor. He was given Oakpelt as a mentor, a fine and capable young warrior. This warrior was honorable, and Heronpaw quickly fell in love with him. As far as he knew, Oakpelt was the only one he could count on. Like the father he never had.
Heronpaw learned all he could from Oakpelt, including how to hunt, sneak, fight, tunnel, and even scale. Despite his anger and attitude, he was turning out fine as an apprentice, functionality wise at least. Inside, Heronpaw was a jumbled mess. He was in emotional turmoil. For many moons, the thought of finding his father and ending his life or leaving him broken and dying in some cave lingered in his mind, but he never ended up acting on these plans.
Eventually, he grew completely detached from his mother, and shut her from his mind.
Heronpaw became Herontail at 18 months old, and was very excited to begin his new life. Along with new freedoms came new responsibilities, but Herontail didn't mind partaking on hunts and patrols. In fact, he flourished during this time.
But soon, his golden age would come to an end. As he grew older, and his bitterness became harder, he turned to the leader. Stormstar, she was an incredibly proud an arrogant thing to Herontail. She made irrational decisions, and his battle against her began when she bred outside of her clan and lied to his fellow warriors. He had fought against her for many months prior, getting only bans from the warrior's den or freshkill pile. He made no headway, but after a patrol in which he spoke out against the deputy, Heathersprout, she scolded him harshly and told him to remove himself from the clan.
Hurt, as these words came from a trusted friend who he didn't wish to upset, he did just as he was told.
On his way from the clan, he said nothing. He spotted Stormstar's bulging belly, and in a rage fled. A clan mate follow him, Acornleaf. They had a long talk on the edge of the border, and despite what Acornleaf said to convince him to stay, Herontail left for over a moon.
While away, Herontail recovered from a lot of emotional trauma. He stayed a long walk away from his clan, but every few days he would leave treats on the border for them to find and return to the fresh kill pile, as a thank you for not hunting him down and punishing him.
Unknown to Herontail, Acornleaf had given birth to his kittens while he was gone. There was a large number of them, but as a cold spread through the camp, they quickly died off. Now, Acornleaf only has one kitten left.
While leaving a kill on the border of his clan, Herontail spotting a familiar shape. His friend, Heathersprout. She seemed very troubled, and so he returned with her to his home.
Stormstar had given birth to her kittens, and was reluctant to tell who the father was. Her warriors did not wish to confront her, but speculated among themselves instead. Herontail however was much more intent on finding out. He confronted the leader, making a statement to the whole clan, and claimed that moons back he had heard a conversation between Stormstar and her medicine cat. The kits were half blood, and with anger, Herontail, Heathersprout, and Acornleaf drove Stormstar from the camp.
Heathersprout became leader, and appointed Herontail as her deputy. Herontail finally felt he had a purpose now, and grew closer with Acornleaf.
heathersprout died after a fight with a lung infection, and Herontail was named Heronstar. He chose Sittingowl as his deputy.
