personality
Nightblaze is somewhat hard to explain when it comes to personality. He is both confident and shy, cocky yet modest... He is very confident in his warrior skills; hunting, fighting.. sometimes that gets him into trouble though, because he will purposely pick the biggest opponent he can find, or won't ask for help if he thinks he can handle it, which is almost always. However, as much as he loves to show off his skills, he becomes quite modest when others point it out. He's not one to boast per say, but he will subtly agree.
Nightblaze is also a very noble cat. He won't hurt those unless they are asking for it, but if he has to, he will go for blood. When a cat is down, he will let them get up before attacking them, because he sees that as not being fair to attack a cat when they are down. He knows most cats don't necessarily care and he knows they won't treat him the same, but it's part of his morals. Nightblaze is also brave, but that's only because of his high confidence level in his skills. That, and he doesn't like seeing his clan members hurt. He would much rather take the pain for his 'mates any day.
But he is also not very social. Sure, he cares deeply for his clan and select few friends, but if you didn't know any better, you'd think he was some unimpressed tom who didn't have a care in the world. He craves deep friendships, but he doesn't talk to just anyone. If he chooses to socialize with you instead of you socializing with him outside of clan work, then you are something special my friend.

history
Prologue: Welcome to the Clan
Born into the clever and strong RiverClan, Nightblaze grew up with the fondness of water and eating fish for a living. He was the only kit to born of his late parents, so he was watched carefully as such and treated like a million bucks. As a kit, he was quite the opposite as he is now: he was loud, scrawny, and not the most coordinated cat out there. He was awkward and undoubtedly shy. It was somewhat cute.
Apprenticeship: The First Gathering
His first gathering was something from a fairy tale. There were so many cats, and there were so many new scents! That was when he started to wander, and he ended up getting lost in the mess of cats. Fox dung.. he thought, and that was when the leaders up on Great Rock yowled, signalling the cats below to quiet down. Nightpaw looked around nervously, before being beckoned over by a ShadowClanner. He paused for a second before padding over and sat next to the tom.
"First time?"
Nightpaw nodded.
"No worries champ. You can sit here until the Gathering is over."
Nightpaw looked up at the leaders. He only recognized his leader. "...who is that talking?"
"That's the WindClan leader. He's an interesting character to say the least. And that one," he pointed with his tail to a white she-cat "is the ThunderClan leader. Don't be fooled by her looks, she's a mean one in the battlefield." he then pointed to the third leader, a black and white tom. "and that one is the ShadowClan leader."
Nightpaw thought for a bit. "Oh.. thank you."
The tom gave a curt nod.
After the gathering ended, Nightpaw looked around as everyone rose to their paws. He couldn't see or smell his clan anywhere. I'll just wait until the crowd dies down. he thought. The tom beside looked at him.
"Your clan is over there, champ. I'm sure they are looking for you."
Nightpaw was somewhat startled. "Oh.. thanks..!" he said. "I, uh, I am Nightpaw."
"Pleasure. I am Ashclaw." Ashclaw glanced up, and two RiverClan warriors padded up - a white tom and ginger she-cat - to the two.
"What're doing Nightp-" the white tom looked at Ashclaw. "Ashclaw."
"Whitefur. Featherwhisker." he looked at Nightpaw. "Take care." and gave a curt nod to the two warriors before padding back to his clan members.
The way home was something awkward. They kept question Nightpaw if he said anything to the ShadowClan warrior, and to be honest he was getting quite fed up about it. "Just leave me alone! I didn't say anything about RiverClan! All I asked was who the leaders were..." he lashed his tail and laid his ears flat against his head. They stopped, to say the least.
Apprenticeship: Gathering 02
It wasn't until he was 8 moons old that he started to fill out and actually get some muscle on him. And when that happened, it's like he became a totally new cat! The once awkward and lanky kit was now a buffed up RiverClanner, and at 9 moons he was as big - if not bigger - than some of the RiverClan warriors. He excelled at swimming, hunting, and combat, although his big build made him slower than the other more nimble apprentices. But that was no matter; no one can be perfect. He hadn't been to a gathering since his first one- there had been a boom in apprentices so they got to go instead, which Nightpaw didn't mind. But tonight, would be his second gathering. Woo!
The padded happily into the clearing, and he was somewhat happy to see the familiar face of Ashclaw. He then padded over to Ashclaw, and he was the same size as him. "Hey Ashclaw, remember me?" Ashclaw blinked.
"I wanna say you're that RiverClan apprentice, but you look more like a warrior."
Nightpaw smiled. "Yeah! Well, I'm still an apprentice. I'm only 9 moons." the she-cat beside Ashclaw looked at Nightpaw with disbelief.
"Great StarClan! What the heck are they feeding you?"
"Well.. fish.."
There was an awkward pause, then Featherwhisker came up. "Nightpaw, come sit with us tonight." and she nudged him away from Ashclaw and the she-cat.
"Oh well I.. see you later, Ashclaw." and followed Featherwhisker back to where his clan sat.
Warriorhood: First Impressions
He was made a warrior at an early age of 11 moons, and by that time he was easily bigger than most of the cats in his clan. It wasn't often that apprentices were made warriors early, but hey, if they're ready, they're ready. He was given the name Nightblaze. The first few moons were nothing out of the ordinary, couple of foxes but nothing more. He was doing well, he was contributing just like everyone else, and the freedom was great to say the least.
One morning, Nightblaze went out for some early dawn hunting down by the Sunningrocks. He started fishing, and he caught a fish right off the get go. The RiverClan dawn patrol had already came and marked the territory, but apparently ThunderClan was a tad bit slow this morning, as their dawn patrol came when he was hunting. Nightblaze paid them no attention; he was just fishing. Well until some cocky ThunderClan apprentice started to taunt him. Nightblaze was crouched over, so he looked way smaller. His ears twitched; he knew better than to fall for the taunt. He glanced at the warriors, a tom looked unimpressed at the apprentice while the other two kinda laughed. Nightblaze rolled his eyes. Bunch of nitwits.
So it seemed the apprentice had seen him roll his eyes.
"Don't you roll your eyes at me, fish eater! I'll destroy you!"
Nightblaze looked at him, eyes shining in the morning light. "You should really know your place, apprentice." he sat up. "But hey, if you want to teach me a lesson, cross the stepping stones. I'll wait for you."
"That's enough, Redpaw. Back to camp." said one of the warriors.
They started to leave, and Nighblaze returned to fishing. Bloody ThunderClanners, probably scared all the fish... he stared a the water. Not even five minutes later, that apprentice appeared by the Sunningrocks. Nightblaze looked at him, then back at the water. Redpaw, then bounded towards the Stepping Stones. Nightblaze flexed his claws. "Don't do it. Once you cross those, it's fair game." Redpaw gave a snotty glare, and jumped onto the Stepping Stones. He was about halfway across when the rest of patrol showed up.
"Redpaw no! Get back here now!"
Redpaw paid no heed. Nightblaze watched him carefully, waiting for him to step onto the RiverClan bank. And just like that, the second that paw touched the bank, Nightblaze leaped at Redpaw, and sent them both into the river. It was easy to over power the little ginger mass, this was more of a game than anything for Nightblaze. You want to come into the territory? I'll give you a reason to fear my clan! he felt Redpaw squirm, and when his movement began to slow, he grabbed the apprentice and pulled him back onto shore on the RiverClan side. Redpaw coughed and heaved, and Nightblaze couldn't even shake himself before he was barreled into.
He was overwhlemed in ThunderClan scent, and he went into full battle mode. He threw off the ThunderClan warrior. They locked eyes. "Get back to your side, ThunderClanner." A frustrated hiss came out of the ThunderClan cat before the were locked together again. But Nightblaze had the advantage of weight and strength, and easily pinned the warrior after giving him a few wounds to remember him by. He stepped off. "Last chance. Get out. Take him to your medicine cat before he freezes." The ThunderClan warrior got up and limped over to the shivering apprentice. "I hope your first lesson on crossing borders taught you something." Nightblaze loomed over the apprentice, who turned tail, followed shortly by the warrior.
"Why didn't you call for help?"
Nightblaze turned around; it was Featherwhisker. "Didn't need it. It was only a cocky apprentice and a warrior."
"You were, and still should be an apprentice too, you know. Don't underestimate them, I mean look how you turned out."
She had a point, but that was besides the point. "I'm going to report back to our leader. Grab the fish?" said Nightblaze before bounding back to camp.
Warriorhood: A New Friend
Moons ago, Ashclaw had a new apprentice: Fallenpaw. She had made quite the impression on him; for someone so young she was well reserved and shone with confidence. Nightblaze had met her at a gathering, and although he didn't say much, he had a soft spot for her. Weird. She was now a warrior, Fallenflight, and had an apprentice. Nightblaze hadn't even got an apprentice yet!
One day, Nightblaze was hanging around the fourtrees when Fallenflight and her apprentice came into the clearing. Nightblaze stayed hidden, and silently watched until her apprentice spoke of going into RiverClan territory. Nightblaze stepped out, and said how that's not wise. It was somewhat of tense time, even though she was a well built she-cat, Nightblaze could easily take her. But he simply sat. "You shouldn't be out here alone. It's dangerous." he said. She agreed, and said that they should leave. He noticed her look back, and he smiled.
He hung around at night, sure that she was going to come back. He saw it in her eyes; the curiosity. And sure enough, she came back. They talked for a bit, and met up a few more times. Until at a gathering, he noticed her and her clanmates acting... strange. They were looking at him and her, and Nightblaze looked at Fallenflight oddly. "Know this, Fallenflight. I will always be your friend, whether we talk or not." A flash relief sparked across her eyes, as if she was happy she didn't have to say anything. Nightblaze gave a curt nod, and took off back to RiverClan.
Later on, news spread of Fallenflight's promotion to deputy, and Nightblaze dipped his head to her when she appeared at the gathering. She shone with the same confidence that she had when they first met. Nightblaze paused his thoughts for a second, why was he thinking so highly of the enemy? Because we're friends...
